NEWS RELEASE: Miles Hilton-Barber's microlight
flight to Australia |

LONDON, ENGLAND, FEBRUARY 2007
Miles Hilton-Barber, a blind adventure, is currently
preparing for a microlight flight from London to
Sydney. Miles and his sighted co-pilot, Storm Smith,
are hoping to complete the 13,000 mile trip in 45
days, landing in Sydney on April 30th, 2007. Miles
will compile a video diary along the way. It is
hoped that the trip will raise $ 2 million towards
the prevention of blindness in developing countries.
The trip has been made possible by special
equipment, designed by Software Express,
which uses a modified version of their award -
winning GUIDE Software. Guide software,
originally developed to help those with sight loss
to access technology through an easy-to-use and
easy- to learn package, has now been specially
modified to work with Miles's GPS and other
navigational tools. All the instruments have speech
output written by Software Express.
Miles Hilton-Barber states that "none of this would
be possible without GUIDE . Not only has it
enables me to live my dreams, but it will also
contribute to thousands of people being able to see
again".
Hilton-Barber's and Smith's world record flight is
expected to be covered by media networks worldwide.
